I’ve been exploring a bunch of new music lately and I managed to stumble on some pretty incredible stuff. These days, with digital music, you can explore genres and bands without having to leave the comfort of your own couch. Pretty amazing. Anyways, in my musical journey I discovered a genre which cuts all the crap out of rock– like the singing and egos, and lets the musical instruments move your emotions.
This genre is called Post-Rock.
Wikipedia sums up the genre pretty good “Post-rock is a music genre characterized by the use of musical instruments commonly associated with rock music, but utilizing rhythms, harmonies, melodies, timbre, and chord progressions that are not found in rock tradition. Simply put, it is the use of ‘rock instrumentation’ for non-rock purposes.”
