DustySensor.ca has been a project that has kept me busy for about 2 years now. Previously I hosted a gallery where I would throw up a whole ton of pictures from various events in my life. I changed to the daily picture format when I realized I wanted to show off my favorite/best work in a showcase manner, rather then having them lost in the sheer volume of pictures. Thus DustySensor.ca was born.

What the heck is a dusty sensor you ask? Well, if you’re a photographer you have no doubt been confronted with dust.. on your sensor. Digital SLR cameras have an exposed sensor that seems to attract dust, leaving big annoying spots on your pictures. Thank goodness for the Photoshop spot healing tool! Its a pain in the butt to clean your sensor, but some camera companies are starting to come up with ways to automatically clean the sensor.. That will be a sad day, I wonder if I will change the site name?

I am not a professional photographer, in fact, I am a pilot. I am married to a wonderful woman named Becky. We currently live in Inuvik, Northwest Territories Male, Maldives , where I am a First Officer on an aircraft called a Twin Otter (DHC-6) (picture). My wife works as a nurse at the Inuvik Regional Hospital.

Life in the Arctic is pretty neat. Yes, it is cold, but with the cold comes beauty. The temperature up here ranges from -45 in the winter (without windchill) to +30 during the few months of summer. In the winter we recieve 30 days of straight darkness, and in the summer its 24 hours of sunlight. If you have any questions on life up here, don’t hesitate to email me.

Even though I am not a professional, I have been lucky to be published several times:
