The DHC-6 Twin Otter has the capabilities to go where not many have gone before. Like Cloudmaker Mountain, Antartica. We brought a few scientists here to collect Lichen samples.
The blue stuff you see in the picture is ice. Very slippery and somewhat dangerous to land on due to the reduced ability to control the aircraft, but provides a relatively smooth surface, compared to other alternatives. In addition to the slip-n-slide, the wind was howling at ~35 knots. That’s why we had to tie it down to ice screws!

Can I hitch a ride?
Very nice picture!
The plane looks so insignificant. What a great picture with so many different textures. Good thing that you can tie that plane down! Mom
