The journey down to Antartica was quite an adventure. Long flight to Australia, then New Zealand, and in the end, the ICE. The flight from Christchurch, NZ to McMurdo, Antartica was the best. Flying on a military C-17- that seems as if it could fly an apartment building in its cargo hold- was awesome.
In this picture you can see everyone in their extreme cold weather gear sleeping on the 4 hour leg down to McMurdo.
