Becky and I were walking around the boardwalk on the south end of the island and happened on these guys.. We waited till we had a clear shot and here are the results..
I’ve been building up my confidence with reguards to taking pictures of strangers. Pretty easy here as I don’t speak the local language, and I am a foreigner.. So everyone just ignores me. Besides, If I was walking around and someone took a picture of me out of the blue, I wouldn’t mind.

As a matter of fact they all are expatriates from India working in construction industry. Local don’t wear that kind of sarongs. we have got well over 80 Thousands of them working in the Maldive now. Majority of them are from Bangladesh and India followed by Sri Lanka and nepal.
Thanks Kirey.. Its amazing the amount of construction going on around Male.. Seems everywhere you look you see a new building being put up. Thanks for the info on the photo.
regardless, I’m sure the middle guy likes goa trance
haha fab. I’ve been feeling the same way as Lee. Mainly because so many people stare at me, I half feel entitled to some reimbursement. So raising my camera to a person isn’t half as intimidating as it used to be.
I find it funny that there is not a smile or acknowledgement of any kind from any of them that a photo is being taken.
I don’t know Mom… I think the guy on the right posed haha.
the second guy looks pissed
the second and fourth are the leaders
Regarding comment from ‘mom Thomas’: you summed the ’stare’ up perfectly. In Canada, it’s rude not to respond to a smile or attention in some way. Any way - even if it to tell someone to ‘piss off!’. It’s so weird how there is just nothing… nothing in the eyes, no expression on the face… unnerving. I get this look ALL the time when I’m out and about.
