Took my mountain bike for a spin on the ice road today and lived to tell about it. I was very surprised by the the amount of traction I could get.. I thought the bike would have taken me for a spin, but not even close. As long as there was a packed layer of snow on the ice I was fine. Too much snow and i had a hard time keeping straight, just like sand.
Anyways, its quite amazing being out there while a truck is coming. First of all you start to hear the ice cracking before you hear the truck.. It sounds like someone slowly crinkling a bag of chips. Then the truck passes and the crinkling gets even more intense. Pretty neat..
Well, I can now cross ‘bike the ice road’ off my list of things to do..

I bet he was more surprised to see you than you were to see him.
