Picture of the Twin Otter (DHC-6) and the Canadian Coast Guard Ship Amundsen.

The ski on the front of the plane is a penetration ski allowing the front gear plow through deep drifts easier which takes pressure off the front wheel.  The part of the plane that the front gear is attached to is a weak part of our robust airplane.

    I was hoping we’d see this one . . was curious about what you were landing in and now I see. Appreciate that skid on the nose wheel . . not much call for those at LHR recently.
