This past week I’ve been based out of Resolute Bay way way up north. One of our regularly scheduled flights heads back and forth between here and Grise Fiord, which is one of Canada’s furthest communities, eclipsed only by the military settlement of Alert at the tip of Ellesmere Island.
The trip between the two communities is incredible- the friggid coldness of Bear Bay and the jagged rocky mountains of Ellesmere Island provide plenty of sight seeing. The past few times heading into Grise the weather has been quite marginal.. As you can see in this picture there is a snowstorm to the left. Anyways, enjoy the photo!

Beautiful shot. It’d make for a great wallpaper! Any chance you could upload a larger resolution version?
I love that you got the snowstorm action. Makes the shot so dramatic.
So beautiful Lee! This is such a great experience for you!
It looks cold there! Did you take a dip?
wow this looks isolated. What a shot.
i was supposed to go to resolute bay in 2004 to do a site inspection of the school expansion, but we were fogged out and had to stay in cambridge bay. it’s definitely a beautiful area of the world even though there’s “nothing” around
great shots of the north!
Amazing photo. I wonder how the fishing is up there?
Incredible image, quite the view you’ve got there.
