Last week I took Becky to Toronto for her birthday. The plan was to take her to the Lululemon warehouse sale then to lunch. Those plans quickly fell through when we rounded the corner to our destination and saw at least 300 crazy women in the line up waiting to get in on the COLDEST day of the year.
Needless to say there was no way we wanted to hang out in the line up for a discounted piece of overrated fabric. So we ended up eating a wonderful lunch on King street and then decided to head to the Royal Ontario Museum! Definitely a better way to spend a birthday than waiting in a line up.

I think the little figurines in this collection, which included numerous (and each unique) soldier/horse combo’s inside a thin glass case, were grave treasures buried with a ruler of the far East a thousand years ago. They reminded me of all the horse carvings I have from Europe compliments of my Aunt Vera who brought them back for me from Poland and nearby countries for years throughout my childhood. All out of a single block of wood and hand-carved in the recent years. Funny how some things just never go out of style…my collection would have been popular with certain ancient Chinese rulers.
