Recently our chief pilot and I had been talking about open positions in our Maldives base in the Indian ocean. I expressed interest and he responded with a “Lee, get your float rating.” So, thats exactually what I did! Hopefully in a few months we will be sitting on an island somewhere in the tropics. I joked with Becky that we summer in the north, winter in the south. The life of luxury!
The float rating itself was a blast, being able to land wherever there is water is awesome. As seen in this picture, we found a lake and parked her on the beach. Perfect for camping! Despite the crappy weather I was able to get my rating done in two days. Kelowna is such a beautiful place. I enjoyed a few strolls along the waterfront park and also managed to get an hour and a half at the mall–a luxury we don’t have in the north.

Congrats! You must be thrilled - one more step along the way! And the Maldives…now who can complain about that?!? If I know Becky (and I think I do!!!) she’d much prefer wearing flip-flops to muk-luks!
We just got back from Italy, been out of touch. Congratulations on doing such a great job getting your float rating. Dad and I are so proud of you. Your future is an open book. What will happen when we turn the next page? What a great photo. What freedom you must feel to pop down in a beautiful place like that, even better if it had palm trees.
