Recently Becky and I managed to hop on a charter to Dawson City in the Yukon. What a wonderful trip.. A) It was my birthday. and B) Dawson city rocks! Its an old gold mining town, where back in the day before TV, thousands upon thousands of people flocked here to strike it rich. The town is all done up with old looking buildings, neat shops, and saloons. You could almost smell the gold in the air. We hit up the casino, the can can girl show, and some great food.
As for the picture, both the Klondike and Yukon river merge at Dawson. One of the rivers is brown and silty, and one is extremely clear. When they blend together you can see them mix, hence the murky water on the left hand side of the picture.

That water merging is pretty cool stuff.
It always amazes me how clear the skies are in the photos. The hills in the background are probably 30+ kms away yet you can see the trees on them.
I see Becky was carrying her new camera. Looking forward to seeing some of her pictures also.
that was some COLD water…
OH and we hid a geocache while we were there - if any of you are avid cachers you should check it out.
