There are several massive herds of Caribou that migrate all over the north.. During the fall you can travel the Dempster Highway and sometimes end up in a traffic jam with a huge herd crossing the road. We didn’t experience that on our way down to Eagle Plains.. But I gather it was because of these guys scaring the bejeezus out of the herd.

Oh yes, I remember this scene…blood dripping down his collar, pants, his hands, on the ground. Gruesome but necessary for their survival. Makes me grateful I can buy my meat all cleaned up and packaged pretty!
