Dundas, Ontario is becoming quite the spot for TV and movie filming. There is an old restaurant in town called the DeLuxe Diner that is owned by a Chinese lady who fell ill some time ago and couldn’t continue running the business. Basically it was never renovated and the inside turned into a 1950’s time capsule- perfect for period productions. At least thats what one of the production assistants told me- could be farce.
Anyway, I was driving by one night and they were filming at DeLuxe. Talked to people around the set and they informed me that it is for a TV series called ‘Across the River to Motor City‘. I ended up taking a few pictures of the crew, set, and actors. I didn’t know who the gentleman in the picture above was until Becky and I managed to spot him in the movie ‘Man of the Year’ with Robin Williams (which was also filmed partly in Dundas). His name is Sasha Roiz, an up and coming Canadian actor. He didn’t play a huge role in Man of the Year, but he spoke a few times. He was the main secret service bodyguard.
That is a very nice picture of Sasha Roiz. I too first saw him in “Man of the Year” and then I saw him on youtube in “Across the River to Motor City.”
