In order to get an Instrument Rating-which allows you to fly in clouds with very low visibility-you need to build up certain requirements. One of those requires you to build up 50 hours of cross country Pilot in Command. I was at 46.5 hours and my flight test was approaching fast. So, my brother, who is home for the holidays, and I went flying for 3.5 hours up to the Collingwood/Georgian Bay area to check out the area that we used to sail when we were young. We managed to do 3.5 hours exactly as the engine hours gage flipped over just as we were taxiing back to the apron.
