One of Harbour Air’s Beavers (C-FOSP) taxiing in to Ganges Harbor, Salt Spring Island, BC.
The de Havilland DHC-2 Beaver is a workhorse airplane for the north. You’ll often see these birds flying into hunting lodges with canoes and boats strapped to the float struts. What makes the Beaver so useful is its ability to do short takeoff and landings (STOL) enabling it to get land and take off in tight places. The takeoff roll for this guy is only 560 feet.
